Q: Is an 11 day luteal phase long enough?
This month I detected ovulation 11 days, possibly 12, before my period.
Is this luteal phase long enough to sustain a pregnancy?
I’m starting to take Vitamin B6 and B12, plus 3000mg of evening primrose oil to maybe help this out.
Any tips?
Is this a long enough luteal phase?
A: Congrats on your journey to your baby!!!
an 11 day LP is not ideal, but it is long enough. If you suspect that your LP is is always on the shorter side, you might want to consult your dr about perhaps adding Clomid to your cycle because it will help lengthen your LP.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!
Q: miscarriage and normal test results- please help?
I have had 3 miscarriages. I have been seeing an ER. I have had tons of blood work, hystoscopy, HSG, biopsoy, and ovulation monitoring. Everything has come back normal except a mutated MTHFR gene ( I am now on extra folic acid. b6, and b12). Obviously something is wrong for this to happen 3 times. All 3 times have been about 4weeks pregnant. Any advice, suggestions, and experiences will be helpful. We really want a baby.
Progesterone levels are normal.
A: I highly suggest having Genetic Testing done. Your Doctor can refer you if they feel it is valid. My husband has a trans location of the 15th and 22nd (I think those are the two) chromosomes. If it is present in the sperm and unbalanced it will cause a m/c early on. We knew about it because his parents had the testing done after they experienced recurring m/c’s and they tested my hubby’s blood for it when he was 7. I personally have had three pregnancy losses so far. I am so sorry you are experiencing this! I wish you the best and please don’t give up hope. After my second loss I was devastated, but three months later we were blessedly pregnant with my little girl.
Q: I finally found out what I have and what has caused all my miscarriages?
I went to go see my Doctor yesterday because she got my test results and I have a vitamin B12 deficiency and that’s what caused all my 8 miscarriages well my 3 recent ones.
And I looked online and this is what it says :Infertility as a result of vitamin B12 deficiency may be related to an ovulation, abnormal cell division in the fertilized ovum or a lack of implantation due to megaloblastoid changes in the endometrium. Recurrent early foetal loss may also be associated with vitamin B12 deficiency, though rare.
The obstetrics histories of 14 patients presenting With 15 episodes of vitamin B12 deficiency were analyzed. Infertility of two to eight years had been present in four episodes, and recurrent foetal loss was a feature in 11. Two of these 11 cases had never had a full-term delivery. Case 1 had had seven spontaneous abortions before the finding of vitamin B12 deficiency. … OMG! that’s me well actually 8 miscarriages and they never knew why it happened always one after the other. Im just happy that they have finally figured out what is wrong with me and the reason I can’t have a full term pregnancy.
I have my vitamins that I need to take and my Doctor told me once I start taking them there’s a good chance I will get pregnant rite away and she is sure I’ll have a full term pregnancy. Im so happy.
So my question is, Did any of you ladies have anything like this or something similar and gotten pregnant or heard of anyone who has?.
I would really like to hear your stories and input.
Thanks a bunch (Sorry so long)
Jenny.
8 miscarriages
A: hey hun,
i have had trouble with b12 defeincy in the past, at the moment my b12 is good. I had a m/c nearly 1 month ago. I had high homocysteine levels when i was in hospital and that is when the b12 levels arent sufficient. It can cause m/c because the blood has a tendancy to clot. My dr has said that next time i get pregnant i will probably have to have daily b12 injections along with some aspirin to keep my blood from clotting. My b12 levels depleted when i was pregnant and they think thats what may have caused my m/c
hopefully this time around all will be ok for the both of us and we will finally get happy healthy babies to cuddle and love
good luck hun let me know any updates you get from your dr!

Q: Pregnancy .. Need some answers fast please!?
Unfortunately, I missed 2 pills this month, one of them 12 days after my last period (around ovulation time). The last time I had sex this month was the 12th.. I have been eating a lot lately and my breasts are somewhat tender. I bought a pregnancy test, First Response, and it came back negative. Although, it says to take it 4 days before your expectant period (which won’t be here until the 29th exactly!). I was just wondering what the possibilities/chances are that I am, and some of the symptoms. I’m just scared, the test I’ve already taken doesn’t give me any peace of mind because it’s too soon to take it. (Also, I know being tired is a symptom but I wouldn’t recognize that unless severe because I am low in iron and B12 so I’m always tired anyways.) Sorry this is so long a question!

Q: TTC #1 with PCOS.. Any assurance?
My boyfriend and I have been together for four years, and we are trying to conceive our first. Last year around January I was told that I had PCOS, but I brushed it off thinking it was just a fancy name for whatever insignificant thing it was that has caused me to go 9 months without a period. I was prescribed provera for 10 days and then told to start Desogen, which was my birth control pill I had taken up until July 09. Ive had a period every month, not exactly like clockwork but they were anywhere from 28 days apart to the last which was 46 days. Last month I almost swore I was pregnant, I felt ill just thinking about food, my period was late, I felt bloated, dizzy and tired. Then I started experiencing what I thought was implantation bleeding as it was just brown discharge which isnt normal for me, so I scheduled an apt where I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I had taken 2 prior to the apt with morning urine and of course they were negative so I was really hoping that it was just too soon. The brown discharge lasted for about 6 days with only very slight traces of actual blood. Ive been taking b6 b12 and folic acid. Ive spent rediculous amounts of money on ovulation tests , a bbt thermometer and pregnancy tests. I know that I need to slow down and calm myself, but ever since reading up on pcos, ive been frantic, afraid that I wont be able to concieve. I figured out that when you have pcos sometimes you do not ovulate, which is why I spent 50 bucks on a pack of o.p.k’s. Well, the morning after I purchased them, I tested my urine and it came back positive, well i was ECSTATIC! I nearly fainted. I did my research and according to my findings, women with pcos often get false positives from the opks! I was pissed for the lack of a better word.
I have an apt thursday with an ob/gyn and Im nervous. Ive been going to the same doc since I was 16. I dont know what to say or ask. I know that clomid and metformin are often prescribed for women who cannot ovulate. They told me on the phone that they would run some tests to see what the problem is. I informed them that the clinic i was using told me I had pcos. What kind of test will they run? Is it possible that they could prescribe me either of these medicines on my first visit? I dont want to spend most of my pregnancy in a doctors office is why I am asking. I am very interested in natural pregnancies but the chances of myself conceiving without a little help look a little slim. Does anyone have any info that will ease my spastic behavior? Thanks!
A: Hello Dear,
I can understand that you would be very anxious under those circumstances, really wanting to conceive, and being nervous with what you have been reading about PCOS.
I have a very close friend who conceived two beautiful children through the use of gonadotrophins. She has PCOS. I hope that I can offer some suggestions that might help calm your nerves about your doctor’s visit, based on her experience, and also my own experience with infertility.
First of all, I can think of some things that are really in your favor for conceiving:
1) You have a good sense of what the problem is in why you are not getting pregnant. For many people they don’t know why they aren’t conceiving and because of that it’s very difficult to come up with solutions to help them.
2) There are some very effective medical treatments for PCOS. The published ovulation rate for women with PCOS on Clomid is 46%, 76% when combined with metformin and 95% with gonadoptrophins! There are other treatments as well, if these don’t work.
3) You are taking action by becoming informed and doing things like taking your b vitamins and folic acid (smart choices!) Your own passion to find ways to be effective in conceiving will help you be a good team with your doctors in finding the best treatment for you.
Now, a few words about your appointment…
1) I’m not sure what tests they will give you, but I’m guessing it will probably be blood tests to measure your levels of LH and FSH to see if you are ovulating.
2) I don’t think that they will prescribe any medicines for you on your first visit because they will probably want to wait to see the results of your tests.
3) I’m hearing you don’t want to spend most of your pregnancy at the doctor’s office and that is very understandable. You may need to go frequently until you conceive, but once you are pregnant and through the first trimester, your visits will likely slow down, as long as everything is on track.
4) What to ask the doctor? My suggestion would be to get clear about what you want. It sounds like you really want to conceive. And I think your best chance to do that is through medical treatment, because although some people do conceive naturally with PCOS, it is much much harder. So, if it were me, I would be clear that I want to get a treatment for PCOS as soon as possible to help me conceive. That would be what I would tell my doctor.
I hope that there may have been something about any of this that might help calm your nerves. Overcoming infertility is definitely a journey. When you finally hold your baby in your arms and look into their eyes, they will know that they were really really wanted.
This comes with a huge hug…
Q: First Cycle On Clomid?
Hi lovely ladies, to cut a very long story short, my last depo provera shot was back in June 2007, had a period one year later and suffered a miscarriage exactly 1 year after that. Its been a year now since my miscarriage and all tests are fine. Started Clomid yesterday days 2-6 as my luteal phase (from ovulation to menstruation) is only between 10-12 days. Have you taken Clomid? and what was your experiences with it? is it ok to take B6 and B12 with Clomid? Many Thanks in advance.
A: Yes I am on my 4Th round actually, it just help your eggs mature, so actually I have not felt any different on it then I normally do, but you are actually encouraged to take prenatal vitamins to make sure you get everything your body needs to be healthy for the baby. Good Luck to you, Many blessings!
