Q: are B12 vitamins found in egg whites or only in egg yolks?
Thank you for answering me!

A: B12, as well as other B vitamins are found in good quantity in the yolks, and there’s also a minuscule amount in the white.

there are MANY other sources of B vitamins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_vitamins

Q: Do I have to eat the yolks to get the vitamin B12 from eggs?
I eat eggs, but usually not the yolks (unless they’re scrambled)because they have a nasty texture. Will I still get B12 from them, or should I be eating yolks too?

A: There’s some B12 in the egg whites…not all that much. Because a baby chick is supposed to live off the yolk, that’s where most of the nutrition is contained.

Q: Connection between b12 and bowel movement?
Hey everyone,

I have b12 problems, and like a very bad patient, I have missed about 3 b12 shots over the last month. (I know, I know!) Anyway, the last few days I have been feeling pretty bloated/constipated, which isn’t necessarily abnormal for me. Anyway today at lunch I had an egg salad sandwich (with those omega-3 eggs, new to me) and within 10 minutes of finishing the sandwich, I had stomach cramps, had a bowel movement, was nauseated, and then had a second bowel movement. (Sorry, it’s kind of gross, I know!) After that I felt ok.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I think there is a connection between having b12 enter your body (as in, through the yolks of the egg salad) and having a bowel movement. Has anyone heard of this? Is this likely what happened to me today?

Thanks everyone – sorry it was a little graphic. I appreciate all answers!

A: maybe the mayonnaise was tainted or there was some kind of contaminate in the sandwich. there a ton of things i have eaten in the past that made me want to poop my drawers. something so sudden can’t be immediately blamed on a vitamin deficiency. are you lactose intolerant? or have any other allergies? try it again and see if you have the same result. if you do check with your doctor and find out what was in the egg salad if you did not make it yourself.
being graphic is fine if there is a real problem. hope things work out.
i’m middle aged and i know the value of a happy colon.

Q: Egg Nutrition…?
Eating two eggs a day is known to offset your cholesterol if you don’t work hard to moderate it elsewhere, but I wanted to know what the nutritional value of just the egg whites are? This is a list of what I’ve found eggs to have:

Vitamins
A: good for the skin and growth.
D: strengthens bones by raising calcium absorption.
E: protects cells from oxidation.
B1: helps properly release energy from carbohydrates.
B2: helps release energy from protein and fat.
B6: promotes the metabolism of protein.
B12: an essential vitamin in the formation of nerve fibers and blood cells.

Minerals
Iron: essential in the creation of red blood cells.
Zinc: good for enzyme stability and essential in sexual maturation.
Calcium: most important mineral in the strengthening of bones and teeth.
Iodine: controls thyroid hormones.
Selenium: like vitamin E, it protects cells from oxidation

What do I get by eating just egg whites and what do I lose by not eating the yolk?

Thanks!

A: Egg whites have more protein, fewer in calories.
Egg yolks are high in fat but have a lot of omega 3, which is good for your brain.
So the only thing you loose by not eating the yolk is a few calories and extra fat.
I say, eat the whole egg…everything in moderation.

Q: Hows my new diet plan?
I’m really excited about my new low-fat vegetarian diet. I completed my first day today this is what I had.

Breakfast: A glass of Tropicana Orange juice, steamed spinach, grapes, and organic egg whites(my dog enjoyed himself the yolks). A B12 supplement, and a vitamin D supplement because I live in Maryland. Plus a flaxseed oil supplement.

Snacks: Dried fruit

Lunch: Salad with Romaine lettuce, bean sprouts, chopped tomatoes,a small portion of avacado, drizzled with fat free ranch dressing. A glass of silk low-fat chocolate soy milk.

Dinner: Sweet potatoes, corn, and beans, another glass of orange juice.

so?

A: man i should start doing that it’s really healthy
