Q: how long does it take for vitamin b deficiency to be cured?
Hi,
My doc has told me i have a vitamin b deficiency and given me vitamin supplements. I have been taking them for over 2 months now but dont feel much better.
How long should i be taking them before i notice an improvement?
i ended up with it becaise i got pyhumonia wich is still taking its toll on me i also take vitamin c and vinc to i also have major stressors in my life atm which i am trying too get sorted i eat quite well and dont know how i managed to get the deficiency i have the cracks at the side of my of mouth also other signs tooi am on vitamin b complex which is 100 % rda
A: I have been taking vitamin B supplements for 15 years. In order to feel better you must also eat foods that have vitamin B’s in them. Also find out which B vitamin you are lacking and double up on it.
B12 will give you energy and boost your immune system Improvement may take several months depend on how severe the deficiency was
Q: I suffer from nervous twitches in the face, due to vitamin b deficiency?
I suffer face twitches. The doctor says its vitamin b deficiency. I take strong vitamin b tablets. To be honest they are not that good. Its boots own brand. What else could i take. I have a good balanced diet. I get embarassed. I know that i am doing it.
A: This is not likely to be correct diagnosis. B vitamin deficiencies are almost unknown in the developed world, with the exception of B12,in pernicious anaemia. In this case the vitamin is not absorbed in adequate quantities and must be given by injection anyway.Symptoms of this condition DO NOT include facial twitching anyway.
I suggest you seek alternative medical advice.
Q: is it dangerous if i take vitamin B complex supplements even though I don’t have any vitamin B deficiency?
My doctor said I have iron deficiency , but I am just wondering , if i take vitamin B together , will it be dangerous to my health ? The pharmacist said Vitamin B will help the iron supplements to produce more blood ?
A: Iron needs vitamin B12, manganese, copper and other B vitamins to be utilized in the body. Odds are good that your B12 levels are not in the optimal range – over 800pg/ml. A good quality B complex is great for energy and mental health.
Q: New foods for someone with a vitamin B deficiency?
What are some lesser known vegetables that can be found in VA that will help my B deficiency? I’m not a fan of veggies but I need to eat more of them.

Q: How do I convince my parents to take me to the doctor for a vitamin B deficiency test?
My parents don’t really take me seriously but I have a lot of the symptoms and I rarely eat meat. I have heart palpitations, fatigue, exhaustion, nervousness, restlessness, tingling in my legs and feet, soreness, crawling sensation in my leg muscles when I sit, and recently my slow word recall has worsened. Also, I run track and I know my shoes fit properly, but when I run my toes become numb. Do you have any suggestions on how I can convince my parents I’m not just making things up?
A: Just tell them you’re having all these symptoms, and ask if they’ll take you to a doctor. Don’t say you want a vitamin b deficiency test. Parents and dr.’s hate it when you diagnose yourself.
Q: What is a skin disease that is caused by Vitamin B deficiency?
It has to be 8 letters long and the 5th letter has to be an A.
_ _ _ _ A _ _ _
A: pellagra. it is caused by a niacin (vitamin B3) deficiency
Q: Is vitamin b 12 deficiency life threatening?
I’m almost certain I have b 12 deficiency. I have almost all the symptoms and I’m really worried if this could be life threatening. Is it absolutely necessary to go to the doctor and get shots or can you naturally boost the level of the vitamin by eating certain foods?
A: Vitamin B deficiency is common because our bodies cannot store this vitamin group. So, it is likely to be depleted especially if you drink alcohol. I suggest that you just go to a pharmacy to buy a Vitamin B supplement. I’m actually taking Vitamin B1, B6, B12 in one tablet so I’m pretty sure it’s readily available over the counter and it’s not even expensive.
Q: Vitamin B 12 deficiency and post Lyme disease?
I went on antibiotics and now I’m off of them. I have still been having headaches and fatigue, sometimes its hard to concentrate. I did a blood test and there is no sign of active Lyme in my system. So i did not know what was wrong. I been taking vitamin b 12 supplement and noticed these symptoms are getting better.
Is there a link between B 12 deficiency and the Lyme bacteria?
A: Several common features of modern life accelerate the decline of vitamin B12 in serum through life, including the following:
* Microwave ovens In one test, microwaving milk degenerated 30% to 40% of milk’s vitamin B12 in six minutes; with conventional heating, 25 minutes of boiling was needed to depress B12 that much. (67) More importantly, the heat of microwaving destroys all the enzymes in ingested food, which are required to enable absorption and utilization of food. And so by eating microwaved food, both at home and in restaurant and take-out meals, tens of millions of Americans are making themselves increasingly vulnerable to AD, as well as to cancer.
* The Western diet B12 ingestion and stores tend to be insufficient among millions who have for decades eaten RDA-fortified, yet vitamin- and mineral-depleted, processed Western diets, which are also big sources of disease-creating free radicals. (69) Too low levels of omega-3 essential fatty acids in Western diets, harmful in many ways, must also contribute to insufficient B12 levels. (70) Omega-3 supplementation may yield its benefits largely through augmenting vitamin B12. Too-low levels of acetyl-carnitine and folic acid also appear to worsen risk of the condition. (71,72) It’s worth noting that in an Alzheimer’s disease mouse model, a diet rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids, specifically DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), has been shown to potentially slow or even prevent Alzheimer’s disease. (73) At modest cost, we can easily ingest DHA in fish oil or [Carlson's] cod liver oil. Also worth considering is the role of trans-fatty acids (TFA) found in products labeled “zero trans-fats” with EPA approval. In a study of over 800 senior citizens, those with high TFA were twice as likely to suffer symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease compared to those with the lowest TFA intake (hsiresearch@healthiernews.com; accessed 2/17/06).
*Hypochlorhydria.i.e. insufficient hydrochloric acid Most commonly, B12 insufficiency results directly from hypochlorhydria–insufficient hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the stomach–or by achlorhydria–no HCI at all. The acid should be concentrated enough to dissolve a nail in an hour. (77) Hypochlorhydria is likely caused by zinc/vitamin B6 deficiency (78) and a shortage of ionized calcium. (79,80) (Both deficiencies are typically present in older people.) Lack of enough pepsin or HCl in the stomach to generate the bond between B12 and its carrier protein typically shows with atrophic gastritis. (81,82) Both are also risk factors for gastric cancer. (83) Incomplete digestion of foods due to hypochlorhydria and low pepsin production also can be involved in subsequent allergic response in asthma.
Q: How does beri beri a vitamin B deficiency effect you socially emotionally and phyiscally!?
I would really love ur help thank u
A: Beriberi is vitamin B1 deficiency, and it can cause nerve and heart damage, and damage to other muscles.
It can cause poor short term memory, confusion, irritability, apathy, anorexia and weight loss.
So, I guess socially, you wouldn’t be a very pleasant person to be around.
Q: Vitamin B deficiency??
An elderly man has been admitted to a medical floor. He has a history of confusion, ataxia, poor food intake, weight loss, and possible alcohol abuse. He is started on intravascular fluids, to which B complex vitamins are added. Explain the rationale for the addition of B vitamins. What symptoms might indicate s B vitamin deficiency? What symptoms in the medical history might represent a B vitamin deficiency?
A: Sounds like a B1 (thiamine) or B12 deficiency. This is common in patients with an addiction of alcohol – they have low dietary intake of these two due to malnutrition. The neurological symptoms suggest these two. However, B12 tends to be stored and the body has a huge pool that takes much longer to deplete. Also, the symptoms are more suggestive of B1 deficiency: see Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. With B12 may also see megaloblastic anemia, eye problems, parethesias, and glossitis. However you want to treat both because by treating only B1 you may miss B12 symptoms and that can be deadly. Hope this helps.
Q: Is a vitamin B 12 deficiency a major medical problem?
My doctor has reccomended Noscobel spray as I have a major deficiency in my b12 level. I have chronic Q fever and struggle with my health. What are the side effects of this medicine? Thanks for your help.
A: To answer your first question– yes, a major B12 deficiency can be a major medical problem. From my perspective, its hugest problem is causing neurological problems from neuropathies to even deadly strokes. Now, with chronic Q fever you might have heart problems and heart valve problems from this. These heart valve problems could make you even MORE at risk for a stroke. And, with possible heart valve disease, your anemia could be made even worse!
So, rather than relying on a wikipedia entry on B12 deficiency, please do know that in your clinical context, this is DEFINITELY considered a major medical problem and B12 must be corrected.
Q fever is pretty rare! How on earth did you get this? What was your occupation and where are you from?
Q: my husband has a vitamin b 12 deficiency and he abuses oxycontin, how does this all effect his system?
my husband has a vitamin b 12 deficiency, he receives injections weekly but he also abuses marijuana and a drug called oxycontin. How will all of this affect his system??
A: 1) Oxycontin won’t destroy your brain. Wake up.
2) Both these drugs won’t really effect his deficiency in a real dangerous way
3) Are you sure he’s abusing them, or not just taking them medically.
4) That is all
Q: I’m looking for a word that begins with p. For a B vitamin deficiency often misdiagnosed as schizophrenia?
Thanks for the answers but I’m looking for a word ending in eria.
I found the word I was looking for, Pellagra, but both answer’s are good. I’d give you both best answer if I could!
A: Pernicous anemia
Q: Vitamin B deficiency or what?
Ok so I have cracks on the corners of my mouth, but they don’t ever seem to go away. They are really hideous and are darker than my regular skin. Sometimes skin peels off, but the crack is still there. What do you think it is? Does it sound like a vitamin B deficiency?
A: It could be an indication of a Vitamin B deficiency, but it could also be a symptom of dry skin such as like due to dehydration (an example only).
The only way to know for sure is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.
