Q: What are vitamin b12 injections given for? Should I get one?

A: B12 injections are given for B12 deficiency

As one poster correctly points out – they are given for a sort of anaemia.

Most people get sufficient B12 from their diet. B12 deficiency can result from an inadequate diet or after abdominal surgery that affects a part of the gut to do with absorption of B12.

The deficiency of B12 (cyanocobalamin) can lead to anaemia and neurological problems to do with peripheral neuropathy and demyelination of the spinal cord.

You should check with your doctor if you are feeling any of the following symptoms:
o Lethargy/Fatigue
o Shortness of breath
o Tingling or numbness in arms or legs
o Weakness of arms or legs

Your doctor can check your blood levels and check your B12 levels. If your B12 levels are low and you warrant injections, your doctor can arrange those for you too.

Q: Where can I get vitamin B12 injections?

A: Many doctors offices give B12 injections, but some may require you to have blood work drawn to detect your B12 levels first.

Other than that, there are many diet doctors that give them without making you get blood work done first. There are several weight-loss clinics in my area that give prescriptions of adipex, and will give you a B12 shot for $5-$10 every couple of weeks.

Q: Where in NYC can I get B12 vitamin injections?

A: Your doctor’s office. Or any doctor, for that matter.

Q: Has anyone else experienced bad acne after a high dose of vitamin B12 (injections)?
I had low B12 levels, so I had to have the injections. I had 6 injections over 2 weeks, and during this time, I found that my face, back and chest erruted with acne. I asked my doctor about this today, and she wasn’t aware of any other instances in which this had happened. I am assuming that it’s because of the B12 injections, because I hadn’t changed anything else in my lifestyle.
What I want to know is, has this happened to anyone else? I had my last of the 6 injections about 2 weeks ago, and the acne is still quite bad, especially on my face (around the base of my nose and chin).
I forgot to add, it’s not due to my period either, I never break out this bad with it.

A: Yup I did. It was just my face though and cleared up with clearisil face wash in the morning and using the clearisil face pads at night. =]

Q: Vitamin B12 injections?
Are we able to get them? I know that if you have lack of intrinsic factors in the gut then you cannot afford them. Do you need a prescription?
Thanks paul for actually answering the question…

The first guy good info but not what i was asking for.

A: Vitamin B-12 injections are dangerous to the body’s long term health. They damage the DNA of your cells and will actually shorten your life. Natural vitamin B-12 is found in many foods, but primarily beef. Grass fed cows make good vitamin B-12. Since B-12 is stored in the liver, it takes time for the deficiency to occur. Vegetarians are typically deficient in B-12 and that is why many have that sallow look. We were designed to eat lots of meat, but from animals feeding on wild grasses, not the commercial feed lot animals that are fed grain. Those commercial animals are unhealthy and just plain sickly. They are loaded with high inflammatory fatty acids, chemicals from spraying the grains, genetically engineered grains, and their fat runs throughout the meat, unlike grass fed animals where the fat sits on the outside of the meat and is good for you.

The way the body processes B-12 is through the stomach and requires it to be broken down into smaller molecules from the protein enzyme in the stomach so the body can digest it properly.

good luck to you

Q: Vitamin B6 and B12 injections.?
I am 21 years and weight 175 lbs. recently, I had a wake up call to improve my health and appearance and I started going to gym regularly 7 days a week. I burn around 500 calories on cardio machines and do alternate days on strength training.

Recently, a friend suggested taking Vitamin B6 / B12 injections to improve my weight loss mission. Please tell me if this is a good idea or not. If there are side effects ? Once a week injection for 10 weeks. I want to know if they will help me.

A: No pills, potions, supplements or anything will help you lose weight.
They just don’t work.

All you need to lose weight and keep fit is a good healthy diet and exercise. :)

Q: i have had Vitamin B12 defiency that requires injections. my new doc now refuses to treat it, what do i do?
i have had my condition for 3 years and i have joined a new surgery and they are refusing to give me my 10 weekly injections to treat it, they say that i can solve the problem by my diet, but when i got orginally tested for it they said it runs in my family and i cannot absorb the vitamin through diet nor pills. i dont know what do to.

A: You have three choices. Leave it for 10 weeks and then ask for a blood test and see if your levels are still falling. If they are then take them to task and ask for your injections again. See if you old doctor will write a letter supporting the treatment they have been giving you. Change doctors!

Q: Why did Clemens have a lidocaine and vitamin B12 injection?
What was the point of it?
Yeahh no crap dude.. but he said had injections of lidocaine (a numbing agent) and B12 a vitamin.. what would be the point of it?

A: That’s the 100,000 dollar question. Why did he use a numbing agent? Did he have a prescription? If so, what for? Lidocaine is not a common self administered drug that the average Joe uses.

I’d like to think clemens is innocent. I guess he is until proven guilty, but the story is not very easy to believe.

B-12 the experts say is somewhat common and some players use it.

Q: What kind of doctor do you go to for a b12 vitamin injection?
i heard b12 shots were a way to get additional nutrition and overall health and energy boost. i just have a really busy life and have little energy despite eating healthy and working out. any other suggestions on how to get more energy and just feel better all together?

A: Your regular physician can usually provide it to you if you have a deficiency.

Q: Has anyone had experience with a weight loss program which includes Vitamin B6 and B12 injections?
It also includes menu plans.

A: First off, Vit B12 and B6 donjt nedto be involved to lose weight. They help the body repair in a time of recovery. THEY WONT DO ANYTHING FOR LOSING WEIGHT. They will give you lots of energy though.

Q: where can i get a vitamin B12 injection in or around Chandler Arizona?

A: Your local doctor can and should be able to provide you with one!!! That was once a common practice to help put some zip into sick and depressed patients!!!! Unless now all these quacks can do is to prescribe the junk and poisons pushed by the drug companies!!!!!!!!!!:-)))

Q: how long can vitamin b12 be left in light before it degrades?
We draw up our B12 injections ahead of time and store them in a drawer. How quickly should they be administered? Also, does B6 have the same sensitivity?

A: Light sensitive vitamins are stored in light proof containers, that protect the vitamin from degradation by light, if they are kept in the drawer without being subjected to light for long time then they are safe if not they may be destroyed.
I am not sure about B6 so if they are in light proof containers then they are sensitive and if not they aren’t!

Q: I’m vegetarian so how can i get vitamin B12 if i don’t eat meat, and can i take vitamin B12 injection?
every week. and is that enough cause i know that vitamin B12 is stored in liver.

A: If you are not vegan, then you can get your B12 from eggs and milk products. Otherwise, many fortified breakfast cereals will provide you with the B12 you need. Injections are possible, but unless you have an extreme case, I don’t think they’re necessary. B12 could be more easily taken in pill form.

Q: ANAEMIA: What are the differences between epoetin and Vitamin B12 injection in the treatment of anaemia?

A: anemia.

the two potentiate each other and work better as a combined therapy.

Erythropoietin is frequently administered to premature infants to stimulate erythropoiesis. The primary goal of erythropoietin therapy is to reduce transfusions, but the efficacy of erythropoietin has not been convincingly demonstrated in this regard. The aim of this trial was to investigate whether combined administration of vitamin B12, folic acid, iron, and erythropoietin could decrease transfusion requirements in extremely low birth weight infants.

PATIENTS AND METHODS. In a randomized, controlled trial, extremely low birth weight infants with a birth weight 800g and a gestational age 32 weeks were randomly assigned to a group receiving combination treatment or a control arm.

RESULTS. The treatment increased levels of folate in red blood cells, vitamin B12, ferritin, transferrin receptor levels in plasma, and reticulocyte counts. The proportion of infants requiring no transfusions was lower in the treatment group (38%) as compared with controls (5%). The treatment group and the need for mechanical ventilation were independent predictors of the number of transfusions in multiple regression analysis. Cox regression analysis indicated that combined therapy resulted in a 79% risk reduction for any transfusion.

CONCLUSION. Combined treatment with erythropoietin, intravenous iron, folate, and vitamin B12 during the first weeks reduces the need for transfusion in extremely low birth weight infants.
